A week and a half of above normal temps in January gave this boat the opportunity to continue fishing, and although this turned out to be their last trip for the season, not without some Danger. As you can see in the picture there are some huge ice flows out there.

Several years ago my husband worked on this boat. One early spring ( March i believe) my husband and the owner went out, a few hours later the wind has shifted and sent a huge ice flow right into them, which subsequently engolfed them and litterally squeezed the boat and popped it right out of the water and on top of the ice. Fortunately a few hours later the wind shifted again moving the flow once again and set them free.

Nothing quite so dramatic happened on this day, although I found out later they did spend a good deal of time breaking up ice in order to get their gear out.

Canon 50D, Tamron 200-500, f/20, ISO 400, window mount

Looks like pretty treacherous water to me wih all those ice floes out there. I like all the flocking birds looking for a meal. Where was this taken?
