Wood Lily

300/4 at f/8 1/200 sec, ISO 200.

These flowers are usually nestled in protected places and surrounded by other vegetation. This one grows on a breezy little outcropping overlooking Lake Superior. I took advantage of the unusual setting to showcase the twin blossom.

I love images that bring a smile to my face. Wonderful light and color here. The compostition does seem to be in somewhat of a precarious balance. If I'm right up close to it the flowers pop out in all their detail. But if I pull back they compete a little with the "cloudiness" at the top and I wonder if there isn't a way to push that back (brighter and less saturation? less contrast? more contrast?). Don't know if it's possible though. And probably wouldn't matter in a larger version.

Very nice image!
If this were mine, I'd experiment by bringing the flowers lower in the frame. Seems a little unbalanced to me as is.
Then, consider cloning the blue sky at the top , to cover the cloudiness.

The complimentary colors of the bg to the main subject are outstanding. The bloom just seems to glow against the bg. Fine capture and presentation.

Great isolation and a very pretty comp Pete. The BG really helps the shot.

I love the photo, Pete. In my eyes there is a great harmony of colors, vivid but gentle. A splendid specimen, too.
Take care.
