Nothing new this week, so I draw from my files a photo with the sun (which here we have seen little even this week :frown: ).

This Black-bellied Whistling-Duck was taken this summer at Brazos Bend SP.

40D 100-400 @400
f5,6 1/2000
ISO 400

Thanks for viewing.
C&C are always welcome.

I love the duckweed all over the breast of the duck and the water. Makes a beautiful color compliment to the duck. I also love the colors of the duck and the clarity of that eye. Do they have a gray end on their bill or is that something stuck to the bill?

Wow! That's a lot of duckweed. It looks like he/she is sitting in pea soup. From the thumbnail I thought it was a duck sitting on a lawn. Good shot. Very sharp and good comp.

Very nice, Monica. I like how the bird stands out from the green water. I like the light and detail too. Did you make any shots at a lower shooting angle?

Thanks Rich, Robert and Satie.
Satie, unfortunately I didn't manage to shoot at a lower angle because the bank was steep on the water in that point. This was the best I could do. :wavey:

Very nice image of this Whistling Duck - the ones I've seen in South-east Asia don't have a red bill, so this is rather nice looking.

I like this as posted. I wish the few we had here in AZ allowed close approach like this.

Monica,

I like this a lot as posted. The duckweed is wonderful and the eye contact you have in this image is great. A very appealing image as presented.

Very nice as posted, Monica: an unusually colored duck in a sea of duckweed makes it a very different duck image. :toast:

Nice, Monica. Your exposure looks good and I like the duck weed and the like up on the bird's breast area. I hope the sun returns to you soon.

Nice Image!!
Sometimes I am glad that I am not a Duck.
The green really shows the Duck off.

Good work getting so close. I've never seen the gray tip of the bill with such clarity. :toast:
