Cyclop's Good Eye

The last sun halo photo I shared did not seem to be very interesting to folks. I'm assuming this one will not be either, but what the hell, I think it's kind of unique. I haven't seen too many sun halo images other than just the halo itself to be honest...

Same location as the last image, just a bit earlier before the tide came in. The halo is a little less circular as it was lower on the horizon.

Thanks for looking. Feel free to critique. I did go a little nuts with the db, but seeing as how many cultures considered these things either good omens, or a sign of the end times coming, a darker mood seemed to fit.

Ah yes, I'll ask again in hopes of someone out there knowing more about these things. What are the inner portions on the sides of the ring called? They almost seem like the edges of secondary rings... Any help is appreciated.

Nice work with processing and conversion, your "darker" mood is working well for my personal taste, and the high contrast feel I agree that suits the image.
This is a strange and really interesting phenomenon, don´t know much about it´s formation, I´ve seen few of this. I enjoyed your shot, very well done ;)

The sunstar within the halo and the trail in the foreground combine to give this much more interest than your first offering.

I prefer this one, the BW treatment gives it a powerful feeling

Really interesting shot, and I like the lead-in at the bottom. A good foreground seems essential for theis kind of shot to work.

This is much better than the other sunspot shot you posted. Yes, the processing is over the top, but it works here due to the unusual nature of the subject.

That's neat. You can just imagine some ancient culture seeing that and giving it special significance. It's kind of mesmerizing.

Nicolaus,

I think this is very interesting and give a great ominous feel to it. I think it is well concived and executed all around. Don't understand why you don't have more comments on it.

Thanks for the comments. Youssef, most people may doubt this is a real image as it is seems so unnatural...so perhaps that is why there are a lack of comments. Or...maybe it's just a bad photo...dunno. ;] However, it is real, and I've never seen another image of a sun halo quite like this one.
