Cathedral Peak

I was lucky enough to spend a week hanging out here on a backpacking trip this past summer. Didn't see another person the entire time, had the place entirely to myself. I was hoping for some better light but most of the days ended up being sunny and clear, so this is from the one evening when that wasn't the case.

Any suggestions/comments appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

I think the composition works really well. I see you missed a dust spot in the upper left corner. Also it looks like the edge of the mtn range is oversharp and shows halos?

What a view! The comp works really well to befuddle the viewer w/ sense of scale. Great light too. Some weird haloing around the top of the mtn though. Rock on!

Wonderful combination of color (sky), motion (water), and form (curve of snow along the base of the peak). Beautiful work.

Very nice light in this Jeremy, and a beautiful composition. The haloing is a distraction but that can be fixed.

Haloing or not, I think this totally rocks (pun fully intended)! The comp is excellent and the light is totally sublime, great work. :toast:

Glad to see this one posted here. Montana is such a great place to get away from it all. Maybe that's why we attract a lot of fugitives. Great work as always Jeremy.

Wonderful lighting and color in this image, Jeremy. I'm not sure if it's the angle of view but it seems like I'm looking at a macro shot of a miniture scene. The depth seems strangely compressed, but in a good way.

Hi Jeremy

I love the rock foreground texture and the soft light, how did you process the photograph? ¿any PS mask? The sky looks a little bit "strange" with those halos.

best regards

Gorgeous light and I like the all rock composition. Its always a joy to me not seeing a single soul when backpacking. Great job on this one Jeremy

Guess, I'll have to go back and do something about those halos. My masking work must not have been the greatest on this one....

Thanks all for the comments, they are very much appreciated.

This is a sic shot Jeremy. I love your work. What really stands out about this one is the starkness of the landscape. It is just so devoid of vegetation. Plus, all the rocks look wet and the light is really soft. Excellent stuff. Michael

I really like that glowing orangypink light! It's a pretty nice looking peak too. All this and a creek to go along with it. Pretty good stuff. I see the halo's too, but it's pretty subtle to me, and reallty almost looks natural given the light.

I'm loving this one Jeremy. Perfect exposure for these conditions, and the color works perfect. There is a slight haloing around the rocks against the sky on my monitor as noted, but otherwise no nits.
