This is part of a band of bull elk in Rocky Mt. NP. Now they are hanging out together, but in a few weeks it will all change as the rut begins.

There was a group of people photographing these elk from a dirt road, when 2 women walked into the meadow and stood right in front of everyone else. Just another example of rude behavior, they did not seem to appreciate my comments(polite but firm) to them about their behavior, but did move off to the side instead of standing in front of everyone.

Hi John,
Great job with the comp, I really like it. Its interesting behavior too, I didn't know that the males ever really got along... I hate people sometimes! It is much easier just living in the woods by yourself! Nobody to stand in your way when you are photographing!

Those are nice bachelor bulls. It is a little unfortunate that the lighting was so contrasty the the shadowed areas are not longer showing real detail. I think the comp and setting are pleasing. It would be more interesting if the bulls were in a less static attitude, in other words, instead of standing or eating or resting...moving about. The exposure on the grass and sky looks right.

An interesting frame with nice placement of Elk. I like the fact that all antelers are against sky.I may crop off small portion from the bottom.

Beautiful shot. I love the composition. It must be something to see 3 bull elk hanging out together. I was in Yellowstone last fall trying to photograph elk when a man chased after them with his camera and they all ran into the woods. The man ran into the woods after them! I was hoping the bull gave him a nice little lesson in the woods.

Very nice indeed John. Love the composition and the sense of a large expanse of grassland that the scene portrays.
