Cattail

This image started life as a test of my half dark slide. I cut down a spare dark slide so I can shoot a pair of 2x5 panoramas on a single 4x5 sheet of film. To test it, I brought some cattails inside and shot them against a white wall. The half dark slide worked quite nicely. All in all, it was a fun little project.

This image has only levels adjustment, sharpening, and a white vignette added in post processing.

I like this too Mark. Very minimalist and that appeals to me, I know the elliptical vignette emphasizes the vertical composition but to me the borders also distract a little from the subject. I end up looking at them trying to figure out where they end. I might be inclined to leave the subject on a larger bg. Would have to see it though to know for sure. Good eye, beautiful image.

Great simplicity Mark. I am sure that the detail is awesome. I think for me I would like to see a very small border added to the digital file so that I can see where photo ends and the white of the page begins.

A beautiful image, Mark. I especially like the ellipse behind the cattails. Nice job.

Very striking image. I really like it . . . probably one of the more effective shots of a cattail that I've seen.

Very artistic, Mark :toast: . Never heard of this technique before with film - so thanks also for sharing that.
