Canon 1D Mark IV With EF 500mm F4 and 1.4 tc
1/2000 sec, F10, ISO 1600
Got this on the same day as the kestrel. I played around with some of the topaz filters on this one. Did I over do it????
Thanks for looking.

The colours look fine and its a good capture. My nits are that it seems a little oversharpened and I wouldn't mind some more space in front of the bird.

Michael,
I really like this take off shot. The bird seems a bit centered to me too, so a little more room in front would enhance the strenght of the image. Well done.

I'd have to see the original image without the application of the Topaz filter to know whether this went too far.
Critiquing the image as posted I notice that there is a lack of fine detail in the plumage, I can't say whether that is from the filter or not. For my tastes this appears to have too much contrast and is slightly oversharpened.
It is a great lift off pose with wonderful eye contact. Would be worth reworking.

Topaz is a funny app. You have some sharpening halo at the edges. Play with the sliders in the Topaz app, maybe use dejpeg and you can clean this up. Then again, do it all in PS without the Topaz and compare. I use Topaz and sometimes it works and sometimes I say:"what were they thinkin'?"

It's a very interesting take off pose Michael but there seems to be some funky stuff going on in the background, esp the upper fourth of it.
