Just a guessing game, I was trying to get fired up for our fall color season here. So I found an image from 2006 there's a clue in the image as to where it was taken. Olympus E-500 ( wish I remembered the techs)

Beautiful color and reflection, but I have to say I do find the white sky distracting.

Maybe put a frame around this to contain the white sky. The color is very powerful here, and the white sky might not much matter since the color is what attracts my eyes.

It's not as much that the sky is white, but that there is so much of it. It's difficult for a photo to be successful while devoting so much of itself to blank space, especially when that isn't the main idea (the colors are). This works well with just a corner of sky and the distant mountain showing.

Paul,
I'm sure those mountains are quite distinctive, but out of my territory.
I think the lower 2/3 would look nice with a square comp.

Based on the feed back from my fellow Npnr's I reworked the image, and cropped out most of the sky.

Paul,

It's better, but I think you could still crop more off the sky to just above the tip of the fir tree. Also, you cropped out the mountain on the left which I think gives the image more depth. The color of the trees looks very nice.

This is near Rock Creek Lake in the Sierra. The mountain in the background (on the left in the initial post) is Bear Creek Spire. What do I win?

Paul,

Thanks for the e-mail!

Paul clued me in that this was taken at Lake Sabrina. I was wrong.

It should be getting nice up there real soon!
