Glacial Jewel II

Second image of a small piece of the Vatnajökull glacier melting on the beach of Jökulsárlón glacier lake. The low light and the dark water almost made the whole scene seem like made out of metal, really a wonderfull place for little abstract like this.

Hope you enjoy it!

The contrasting warn/cold reflections do give this a metalic feel, more like gold than ice. I like it, except for the prominent out-of-focus object centered in the foreground.

I agree that the textures and tones in the water are quite remarkable, but in the end, the bit of ice is not a compelling enough anchor to keep my attention on the photo for very long. That might just be my spoiled bias.

Jorne,

The quality of light captured here is wonderful. The light picked up in the small piece of ice works well for me as an anchor. I do think however that there is almost two images here with the softer water, oof elements and even the color is cooler at the bottom. I think to Kent's point, if you were able to isolate this even further I think it would be stronger. Now obviously being out in the water you would either need more lens or have that piece of ice closer.... But I think the ice and metallic looking reflections and water make for a fascinating image - despite the oof elements up front.
