Into the Light
by Wayne Jones
I have had this image in my mind for two years. Last fall I got nothing worth keeping, but last week, I came very close to producing it. This falls short of the technical quality I want, but otherwise, it is close enough that I will try making a small print. There simply is not enough light in this setting to shoot with my 50D (stubbornly stuck to ISO 4OO instead of pushing it to 800 or more) and get a really sharp image hand held, and I was following leaves drifting in the current fairly quickly, so I took the camera off the tripod. The water level, wind, sky and leaf colors all need to come together. I hope to try again next year, but for now, this will do, at least as a reminder of my goal.
(Ugh -- I hope the colors look better than on my laptop. Processed at home during a brief break from the hospital, so I'll leave it this way.)
Canon 50D
Canon 100-400
1/80 sec. @ f/8; ISO 400
Minimal processing – slightly darkened bottom part of image and lightened the top.

P.S. Best of Luck with your treatments.
Wonderful shot Wayne
This is so beautiful... so beautiful that I just may ruin the experience by suggesting it's too bad you didn't have a better leaf...... But you know what, in the end, it makes this all the more natural and lets the eye enjoy the beautiful colors and patterns offered from bottom to top. I just love the softness and diversity of color here. This is a moment to be treasured.
