This is a shot looking north as the sun came up enough to cast a nice red shade on the sides of these tufa towers. It was an amazing place.

Thanks for taking the time to stop in for a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

This is my favorite so far. I like the tighter comp. The formations make a stronger impression.

Mark,

Excellent capture from the South Tufa at Mono Lake. You've managed a very nicely lit scene because usually by this time the tufa are burning hot (exposure wise) and any decent images have long past. Great complimentary sky, beautifully calm waters and overall a very nice image from Mono. No nits

Thanks for the comments. My biggest fear on this particular shot was with regards to the sun as it came up and how it would show (ie real hot) on the tufa. I started shooting these tufa forms as soon as there was a hint of sunlight showing and was just hoping i caught it before things got too intense. The conditions were absolutely perfect, i was just fortunate that i was there to take the shot. Mother nature was very kind to me on this particular morning.

Very nice capture of this iconic location. It is an amazing place and you've done a good job showing that. Nice colors, given what was probably a high dynamic range. Best Regards.
