Black Necked Stilt

Shot a couple of months ago in Bayou Sauvage. There were several species there, including a YCNH, a Snowy, a Tricolored and a few White Ibis. There was a small group of the stilts wading in the fairly shallow waters on a breezy, sunny morning.

Olympus E-3 300 F2.8 +EC20 Wimberley I, ISO 200 1/2000 f5.7 -0.7EV

Great look at this Stilt Bill. Detail looks really good at size posted with a great catchlight, and I like the comp. as well as the ripples in the water.

Nicely done Bill. You got the beak open and color in the eye which is often a challenge with this species. Nice exposure and I really like the dimpled water.

Great image of this favorite bird of mine. I have been unable to get close enough to get this kind of detail. Well done.

This is a great look at this Stilt, Bill. Well lit, nice pose with the open bill and nice job with the exposure on the whites. Very well done.

A fairly plain bird really, black and white with pink legs. But, the wonderful color and texture of the background water and the angle you have really sets off the bird beautifully. Attractive image. ( I can see this photo having some possibilities for some artistic manipulation with filters, such as a water color look for example).

Nice portrait, like the light and the water surface with all the ripples.

You did exceptionally well with your exposure of this black and white bird that I always find difficult. I like the bent leg that shows movement and the open beak. I just keep wishing for the larger version so we could see the details better. Excellent image.
