Geese On the Salmon

This was taken 2 days ago at Rotary Lake on the Salmon River just south of the village of Malone, NY. It was very windy and blustery and I found myself waiting for the tripod/camera rig to stop shaking between shots…but managed a few with mixed results. There were too many geese to clone out, so I left them in the shot…managed to capture a little color. No special processing, minor crop from top.

Canon T1i, 70mm, f18, 1/60s, ISO-200, shaky tripod

C&C always welcome.

Cloning the geese, are you kidding? It would have taken less if you'd shot them all dead directly at the lake!

This is beautiful, I love the crowd of ducks and geese on the lake, and the muted colours of the trees. I would perhaps just lighten a bit the shadows on the upper half, it looks a bit too contrasted if compared with the lower half.

:wavey:

Nice autumn color Ron. I also think the geese and ducks add to the scene.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion...ha, yes I was kidding about cloning out the (mostly) geese in this shot, but I couldn't resist and carried out the idea anyway - reworked it as Photo Art which I also posted this morning.

Ron,
The separation between the Canada and Snow Geese, combined with the horizontal band of fall colors set against the dark green shadowy area makes a very strong graphic design here. (A good advertizement for that new brand of tripid - Shaky Tripods, Inc. -- Glad you got break in those winds.)

The birds add so much. What a neat take on fall colors.

Very nice image. Someday I am going to have to make a trip east during fall color time.
