Yesterday I went with a good friend of mine, Arild Heitmann (he is here on the site), to Lofoten and met up with some englishmen to shoot for the day. Had a great time in Utakleiv and Haukland with everybody and the conditions were not too shabby either... well, in between of the rainshowers at least.

This is taken in the middle of the day. I found this pretty little rock where the waves were just about coming up it, and decided to take some fairly long exposures. This is the first shot I've edited from the trip.

C&C is VERY welcomed! Larger version included as well.

Canon 5D
Canon 17-40 @ 17mm
f/16
10 sec
ISO 100
Lee .9 ND filter
Lee .9 soft ND grad handheld in front

Wow, beautiful! I love the strong contrast and texture in the foreground, and those beautiful clouds make for a dramatic mood. I like this a lot. I would just suggest to tame down some of the highlights, particularly on the waves surf as those brilliant whites right at the center of the frame are a bit distracting. Other than that, just a great seascape loaded with great details, texture and mood.

Absolutely great! There is something of interest to look at from top to bottom and you captured a nice mood. I might prefer some better wave action, however, in the very center...

Great image - goes to show that shooting midday can work with the right skies. This is great and has the warm tones of a sunrise/set. I like the warm fg, criss-crossed leading lines, and strong mid and background.

Great criss-crossing foreground lines, especially in the large version. The moody background is great as well -- that could easily be a completely different image. I agree that some of the highlights could use some burning down.

I have a very "John Constable like" feeling when I look at it. Great photo.
I have to only agree with Paolo here. The clipped whites in the wave are taking the attention away. Burning it would bring its texture a bit as well!
In anyway, this is a grea capture and great colours :)

Great FG element. I love the warm glow on those rocks. Beautiful comp & colors as well. Just fix those highlights and it's a winner.

it was a nice trip..thats for sure.

I`m trying to see if the birds are in there :-) This is really nice, håkon. Very nice tones all over. I`m not so sure i agree with the other comments on the highlights in the breaking water, since i dont find it distracting at all....

Thanks all. I basically posted this to get some feedback on it...I think I'll go over it at least one more time before I am happy. I want a bit more "pop" in the foreground, I will also experiment with the water to see if burning it a bit will help...

I've updated the foreground and global contrast of this shot. A bit more pleased with it now.
