Life Cycle

by John Kerr

Gallery: LandscapePosted October 24, 2010133 views10 comments
I like the cycle of life this photo displays. The floating leaves that will soon sink, the leaf that has already sank and the swamp oil that is created by all the decomposed vegetation from the past.

Canon 7D with tripod, Canon 100mm macro, 1/30sec, F/10, ISO 100, darkened water in levels.

Large version added.

Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.
John

I agree John. The oil slick adds a lot to the image. Nice composition. :toast:

Ahh great theme. I actually got it without having to read the text. The arrangement works well and the water droplets add a lot. Graphically I find the oil a little distracting, but it is part of the theme.

The water drops are really neat, and I like your chosen comp. Nice picture and story.

The only thing that would make this better is a little more room on the left side. Well composed and executed

Nice shot that tells the story well. I agree that added space at left would improve the composition.

This is very nice, John. I'd like to see a little more breathing room on the left side and the bottom. The detail is lovely. Exposure and color are right on the money.

Real nice. The comp and contrast and colors do a great job of conveying the title.

I really like this shot! It's unique and the title is perfect! I got it right away before reading the text.

Very good PP, I think darkening the water has worked well to make the leaves stand out nicely..Balanced comp too. I like the partially submerged leaf, with others just visible below it. Swamp oil? Thanx for the explanation.
Well done :toast:
