Fallen Rock

I headed up to the CO Nat'l Monument yesterday afternoon because I thought the lighting might be interesting with the sun playing peek-a-boo with the clouds.

This was taken from the Fallen Rock overlook. The "Fallen Rock" is that big chuck of rock over in the upper right that fell straight down from the cliffs above. The sign at the overlook says something like "can you see other weak spots in the cliffs that might cause this to happen again?" Sure made me wonder what was under MY side of the canyon

What I liked about this scene was the "S" curve created by the bright cottonwoods in the wash, and the play of light on the cliffs behind. Your comments and suggestions are most appreciated.

This is really nice, Angela. I wouldn't do anything different. The light is fantastic, the sky is gorgeous and your processing is spot on. Glad to see you're getting to know CNM!

Interesting image. At first I thought the heavy shadow was too much, but looking at the larger post it all works fine. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely perfect timing. The spotlighting on the gold trees at the bottom of the canyon is very effective. A great shot of one of CNP's lesser-known overlooks too!

It's a pretty scene, Angela. I like the sweep of the mesa and how it moves me through the scene.

I like this, Angela. The way the yellow trees follow the same sweeping shape of the canyon face is really nice. I think it might benefit from a small boost in contrast, but that is very minor.
