Nice find and a well composed image, Preston. The way the arch of leaves points to the "heart" helps draw the viewer to it, but I'm struggling a bit with the lighting. The heart is rendered considerably darker than the surrounding rocks and leaves, so even though I'm wanting to focus in on it as the subject, my eyes keep wandering elsewhere among the brighter surroundings which aren't as visually interesting as the heart. I'm wondering if a little dodge/burn and vignetting might bring more focus onto the heart?

Very effective comp, Preston. Aren't aspen leaves good at making things look good?

Wow, that's a fine composition Preston! I love the arrangement of the leaves and their look. The curve they create fits perfectly to the rest of the elements. And those three in the front - you placed them there right..? Does not matter, really. Looks just good.

Very pretty Preston - love the comp, and the color really jumps off the screen at you, but is not overly saturated. Nicely done.

Preston,

Another terrific autumn intimate. Snugs right in to your Sierra portfolio beautifully. Sure seems like you had a productive few days on the East side. Well done.

The rock coloring is neat as well.

I don't know if I would of seen that heart Preston. Way to think creatively. The red and golds stand out among the rocks.

Having this photo hanging on an adjacent wall to the one in your last post would be awesome. They make a wonderfully complimentary pair.

Detail and composition are perfect here, Preston. It looks as though the aspen leaves not to be left out of this fine scene became a cast of thousands, so to speak. The heart shaped rock really has a unique color and is very distinctive too.

Very intimate, Preston! I love the colors and simplicity of this.
The multi-colored stone is interestingly heart-shaped.

Many thanks to everyone for your comments!

Didi: No adjustment was made to the position of the leaves; it was tempting, though.

Laurent: I do usually shoot Astia for its wider dynamic range. In this case, the light was soft and very subdued due to cloud cover, so I felt that Velvia would do a better job with the reds of the leaves and the rock.

Thanks again, everyone!
