Does the blown out water at the base of the falls distract from this photo?

I don't think it's a distraction. I think you would expect to see some areas that are blown out in a long exposure
water fall photo. I really like this, with the mix of green and fall colors.

The comp, and scene are very nice! bright spots in the water look about right to me.

No, that water doesn't even look blown out. I like the scene and colors make it nice. Overall it seems a bit underexposed to me.

I agree with Tony, leave the water values where they are and up the exposure slightly everywhere else. Beautiful scene.

Beautiful autumn image, Brian. Water looks spot-on on this monitor; elegant contrast and motion. Very nicely done.

Pretty! Great flow to the falls. I agree with a slight brightening. Water isnt distracting, though the branches on the rhs are mildly distracting. Overall--great shot!

Beautiful moody image of this spot Brian! Water brightness doesn't bother me a bit--those darn branches in the top right distract a bit, but I'm a PA person myself and they seem to be everywhere!!

Very dark and moody - not sure if that's on purpose or not though. The "blown out" area doesn't really look very blown out to me, but I'm on my work monitor. Overall, I like the image.

Highlights in the water don't bother me a bit. I might prefer a slightly lower camera position to include a little more of water below the smaller falls at the bottom. Other than that, this works for me.

Great shot Brian. I agree with the gist of the above. A bit brighter and without the branches. The bright water looks fine.
