Light and Shadow

I had spent some time here at North Lake in the eastern sierras the day before and didn't intend on coming back the following morning. North Lake is one of the more iconic locations in the sierras and that was verified when I found what had to be 50+ photographers lined up on the shore screaming in glee over the light show that was happening before them. Although crowded, I was happy to get to see it too.

Please view the larger file for a closer look.

You are in the right time and right place. The light is perfect for this one. I also Like your composition which include grass in the foreground following by beautiful reflection and then wonderful mountain. This combination make me as if I was there with you.

Lots going on Mike, but I really like it. I hope the other 50 got something this nice.

Gorgeous you have the sort of light that plays across the Scottish peaks in this one and initially I thought it was a Scottish scenic. Lovely shot with mood and quality.

Mike - You handled the varied lighting very well. Would love to have seen more of the reflection near the bottom, but that may not have been possible. Not sure if you could have move a little closer to the water's edge and lower. Regardless, a fine scene.

Mike,

I may have been among the 50 with 49 being my daughter Cassie. This is really well done, it was an epic day in the E. Sierra.

I hate crowds... Especially crowds of photographers (more like gear junkies most of the time). :argue:
Im glad you were there though. This is a fantastic shot! I couldn't imagine the light getting any better than this. :toast: :jump:

Sure is beautiful light and color that you've captured. It's a shame the top of the mountain reflection is obscured by the fg grass, but this is a stunning shot none the less.

Beautiful shot. I've seen other photographers...from a distance...but I've never had to share a location with one, let alone 50! I wish I could see the top of the mountain in the reflection but this is great as is. :toast:

Wonderful lighting and good composition really make this shot for me, I like the foreground elements esp. the tree shadow, excellent detail throughout, well done.

The light looks just like the day Steve, Chris and I were up there... although I was by myself up near the waterfall west of the lake. Now after seeing this and what others got from along the lake, I'm envious. This is really well composed with good exposure control. Nice work!

Gosh, this must be worse than the bridge at Zion. Spectacular image. Glad you were able to find a spot.
