Black-shouldered Kite

Got this last weekend in Johore State in Malaysia. There seemed to be much larger numbers of them at this padi-field area than, say, a couple of years ago.

1D MkIV, 500mm + 2.0X, 1/2000 @ f10, ISO800, beanbag on car window, morning overcast skies. We don't bait raptors.

Thanks for looking; your comments welcome.

PS: On this day the camera began to behave erratically and I was getting apertures as open as f1.0! Once again, Canon Singapore (CS) came to the rescue the day after, and my camera and lens were ready within 24 hours! A thousand thanks, CS!

So much for things being slow in SE Asia... Gorgeous looking bird, perfect perch and a real nice angle. Love that red eye too

Really nice KC. Love the overall comp and the red eye draws me in. There seems to be quite a bit of noise in the BG. What percent of full-frame is this image?

Thanks! I'd estimate it at about 41%.

Sweet shot Kwan, great bg here! With an aperture of F1 you could really do some low light work! :toast:
