Limosa fedoa

Some time ago I posted another image from this series of a Marbled Godwit preening, the other image was a horizontal presentation, with this one I went vertical. It was early morning on a clear day.

D200, handheld, very low in the water, f7.1, 1/800, ISO 200, 80-400mm VR at 400mm, natural light. 55% of the original frame, mostly due to cropping to vertical from horizontal. Larger version provided.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments & critiques. Thanks for taking the time to evaluate my image.

Beautiful bird and a better pose... the detail and layering of the feathers is really nice.. a touch tight on the left but that's no biggie give the desires for a vertical.

Beautiful pose and exquisite detail, Mia. For my taste this composition feels a bit crowded on the left. :toast:

Thanks Luke, Dennis and Charlie, I wondered if I had cropped too close on the left side, but I liked the initmacy this comp seemed to give the image. I have more space on both sides so I may do a repost if I can find some free time.

Thanks again!

Hey Mia, I looked at this earlier and my first reaction was that it needed more room on the left but I thought maybe it's just me so I decided to wait and see what others thought before posting my comment.  Other than that it looks excellent!

I like this crop fine, to provide as large an image of this fine shot as possible.
Wonderful colors, BG, and pose as usual.

Terrific detail and excellent overall image quality. Nice pose. I'll also vote for a touch more space on the left side.

Here is a quick rework with the comp having more room on the left. Thanks for looking and making the suggestions.

Beautiful! The ruffled feather pose and the beautiful detail in the feathers puts this shot over the top. Until I saw this shot I thought these guys were kind of plain looking. I think I like the repost crop just a bit better.

Excellent. Great detail. It can be tough to freeze the "action" on a preening bird and you have done a great job here. Crop is a little tight for me.

Over the top .
There is great elegance in this picture. The pose of the animal gives rise to a spiral movement of the eye . Excellent soft light .

Your shots have always blown me away Mia, and this is no exception. Just a great shot all around but I think the best part is the subtle lighting which you have captured so well. Your work is inspirational to many here I would imagine, myself included.

One of the most interesting preening poses I've seen. The pov and extended wing make this over the top. Also like the water around the legs.
