The Hunter

When you observe the Canadian Lynx moving in the deep snow you have to admire the lightness of his jumps. The big soft paws serve him as snowshoes. Long and strong hind legs enable him to overcome two or three metres only in one jump. The perfect movement coordination makes it possible that he can fast change the direction when following his prey. Although he is just a half weight than his European relative the European Lynx he dares to catch an animal much bigger. That brought him the reputation of an excellent and bold hunter.(Nikon D3+Nikkor 80-200mm/f2.8 lens, 1/640s at f10, ISO 400).
( taken in controlled conditions.)

Superb shot of this magnificent cat. The backlighting is wonderful and the intense concentration of the lynx make for a classic image.

Great action shot, here Petr. I like that you have eye contact with the subject but that the Lynx's eyes are focussed away from the camera. If I were to offer a suggestion it would be that the Lynx's shadow appears to be cut off along the right side of the frame. This is a very very minor nit, but it might be nice to have more room for the shadow.

The backlighting is what makes this shot. Absolutely superb.

Hi Petr, what a spectacular shot! The flying snow, that big paw, the clear focused eyes; fabulous The techs are just spot on and so is the processing. I like how that shadow stretches all the way to the BLC (although I agree a tiny bit more room on the right would have perfected this).:toast:
Thanks for mentioning this was taken under controlled conditions.
