Thousands of cranes stay at Jasper Pulaski Fish & Wildlife area in Indiana. Their take off at dawn is truly spectacular.

John, I had a similar experience at Bosque del Apache. The blast off is awesome.

And I like your red and gold representation.

We'll both have memories forever.

Nice, John. I like the positions of the foreground cranes, and the light is gorgeous. :toast:

Very nice image. The light is great and I really like the contrast. I am going to have the chance to be on the Platte River in Nebraska for the staging of the Cranes this coming spring and I am hope to come away with some shots that at least come close to being as good as this one.

This is very nice John. The combination of in focus birds and OOF birds and in different positions without any overlaps is fantastic and unique. I do find the sky color a bit too warm, but that is of course a matter of personal taste. :toast:

Very nice, John. The basic shapes of the other birds set this up for the subjects in an interesting way.

Like several others I find the sky a bit warm, but, really like the separation from your focal plane and the
OOF in the background. Thanks for sharing,

Nicely composed. If it were mine, I'd reduce the saturation on the image just a tad.

You mention the sight, but you don't mention the sounds. At least up here, half the fun of a Sandhill Crane flock taking off is the sound.

Excellent!, I like how you've isolated just these two
Well done.

Very nice, John. The thing that strikes me is the contrasting sharpness of the subject birds as opposed to the BG birds. That, and the BG birds are all similarly out of focus. Nicely captured.
