The Fence Line

We went out in some heavier than expected snowfall today. I had shot this old fence a couple of years ago, but it looked just right today for a moody capture... ISO-80, 1/400th sec., f-4.0. This was processed and converted to B&W in PSE 7, going to post the original "color" version for comparison. Thank you for any C&C.

Beautifully composed scene, Bill. It really brings across the feeling of winter in the rural setting.

Thank you Harley!! Here is the color version... is the B&W too sharp anyone?? My monitor seems to get things wrong a lot.

Bill, I like your choice of B&W better. It is a very nice composition. I would only suggest to maybe take a little off the top.

This is really nice, Bill. I like how you have the fence placed in the scene. You captured the falling snow nice too. I really do enjoy these kind of rural scenes. I like both versions, but I think the b/w was a good choice. The large version is really nice to look at. It might be just a bit sharp. I go along with Carol's thought of a little more off the top, but still nice as you have it. Nice work, Bill :toast:

My vote is for the B&W also. The fence with its broken posts and tangled wires is excellent. Very nicely done

Thank you Carol, Eva, Nick and Nancy. I did crop off some of the sky, but I liked the vertical look, and didn't want to square it off, nor have to crop out the tree in the BG on the left, nor any of the fence on the right to maintain it... but since I see a few branch remnants to clean up, here is a cropped version. Appreciate the comments all.
