Zion National Park, Utah

I thought I'd take a little break from the ice abstracts, as I have a few more of them I'd like to share. This one was from last November hiking around in Zion. I have always liked the way the trees and scrub look with just a few remaining autumn leaves. Not sure if this is exactly what I was looking for, but I tried to make it work.

An odd shot--at first i thought it was leaves floating in water. It feels unbalanced and a bit tense--but it works for me--i like it!

I like the shallow DoF, the dark BG, and the composition. I also like the leaf color, but the leaves themselves look a tad soft on my crappy work monitor. I'll have to recheck when I get home tonight.

I like the dof here and the tension of the comp does work. I wish the focus was sharper or more apparent but maybe it is just the orton?

I love the colour scheme here Jimmy. The thin focus on the leaf is real nice. The urc and the ulc are a bit empty and leave a touch too much negative space but a crop doesn't work either to help. Beautifully done. Cheers

I feel you here Jimmy. The moment is nice and I don't get an edgy vibe from this. I too, like Paul, would like to see the forefront leaves tack sharp. If this is your vision, however than keep it.

Great job

Jimmy,

I really like what you've seen and captured here in terms of the shallow DOF, color and especially the form and patterns formed by the oof branches below or beyond. The only thing I can't quite get over yet is the ping-pong effect going back and forth between the two yellow leaves. I'm wondering if you burned down, say the UR leaf to a brightness in between the brighter LL leaf and the background leaves to create some sort of differentiation between the two sets of leaves. Just a thought. Still, very well seen and I still like this very much.

I think if one or both of the prominent leaves were in focus this would be a winner Jimmy. I am having a problem with lack of focus anywhere.

Yeah, I got the floating on water sensation about it too! I like it. The dof is really making an artistic impression here. Nice!

This is such a beautiful image -- unique and creative. It makes you re-think the possibilities offered by the medium.
