I'm going thru 1000's and 1000's of old images, trying to get organized....and my files are an incrdible mess! As tedious as it is, I'm finding lots of images I like too.

This male wood duck had to sit perfectly still so I could blur the water flowing down Ashland Creek of of Mt. Ashland(OR). The oof greens are foreground leaves of the tree I was hiding behind. I remember when I first looked at these, none my attempts appeared sharp...but this looks pretty sharp to me

Canon 10D f6.7 @ 1/6 of a second w/ cable release.

Looks pretty sharp to me too Dan. Love the pose of the duck and the head turn he gave you plus the neat rock he is perched on. The swirling water in the background is beautiful. The OOF leaves I am not so sure about but they are OOF enough not to bother me much. Love the natural colors

Awesome picture! I love how you blurred the water like that! The Wood Duck looks really sharp to me, especially in the larger version.

I really like this Dan - especially the flows and textures of water and rock, and how the colours of the oof leaves resemble those the beautiful and sharp bird.

An unusual composition for a wood duck, and a very sucessful one. Very nice. Thanks for sharing. It is nice to see a new view of a subject.

Impressively sharp especially for a "glacial" 1/6 of a second shutter speed. I like the combination of sharp duck and oof water, very artsy. Neat rock perch. One of the most appealing Woody photos I have seen. :toast:

I like this a lot as posted - a unique shot for the Avian Gallery. Very creative on your part! Sharpness is fine especially in the larger version.

The Wood Duck certainly sat still for you, enabling you to get this wonderful photograph. Love the effect of the water.

This is a special image IMO - I just love the effect of it. Can hardly believe the SS considering the sharpness of the duck and really like the effect on the water. I have no problem with the OOF foreground vegetation in this case - probably because of the greens in the water (if that makes any sense?). Really like this Dan. Keep searchin' those old files...

Beautiful capture of the animal in its environment. I'm not really bothered by the leafs in the FG. They give me this sneaky look on the true nature feeling

Great shot Dan. Love the contrast of the vivid sharp colours and the whispy water in the background.

cheers

Like where you're going here, it worked out very well.
The OOF greens FG are my only minor nit.
Well done :toast:

I like the shot very much, Dan. I really like seeing the Wood Duck in habitat like this, instead of twiddling it figurative thumbs in a park pond. nice work on the water, too. The OOF leaves aren't bad enough to distract from the image in my opinion.

really a fantastic image, Dan, creative and well-executed (with a little help from the duck!). oof leaves are a non-issue for me, they seem to go with the water. sharpness looks good to my eye. Glad you found this one!

The wood duck looks very good-especially given the shutter speed. I like the water. The OOF leaves are perfectly placed and frame the bird.
