American Wigeon

It's a long way from my house to any body of water large enough to hold ducks on a regular basis, so I enjoyed having a chance at some today. Just about everyone stayed out of reach except the wigeons, who were friendly.

Looks great! Really nice pose to catch the green iridescense of the head, bright eye, fine detail and some extra interest from the dripping water. Coupled with a bit of reflection and that great water - a winner for sure!

Very nice. It takes just the right angles to get the catchlight in a wigeon's eye.

Everything looks excellent Brian and that "elongated" drip adds nicely.
Great catchlight, reflection, colors, comp, and low POV..What time of day was this anyway?
Very well done :toast:

Excellent Brian. I like the water coming off the bill, reflection, detail, water color and your exposure looks very good, including on the whites of the bill and rump. Nice IQ. A strong image IMO.

I love the slight head turn and the water slowly flowing from the beak. Great clarity and sharpness, and the water color compliments the duck well. :toast:

Howard, it was about 10am. normally I would have put the camera away much earlier, but a thin overcast helped mellow out the light a little.

Well done, Brian. I like how the dripping water ties the real head into the reflected one.

Nicely done Brian! I think the water droplet adds to this and makes it more interesting. Good work!

One of the better American Wigeon images that I have seen, good job in handling the color contrasts. I like the lower angle and the water dripping adds to the image, way to go.
