Some nice light about 15-20 minutes after sunset along the Pacific coast, just a bit north of the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm not entirely sure this shot works and have a few issues with it, but I can't find a good reason to take it out of the "keeper" category. Please fire away and share your thoughts, good or bad.

Canon 5DII, 17-40L at 40mm for 120 seconds at f/16 (ISO 100).

This works for me, Phil and looks like a keeper to me. The
slow shutter speed works well on the FG water, giving it a
dreamy effect. I also like the FG rock formations that offer
a contrast in their shapes to those in the background. The
colors work well also.

Not sure why you feel ambivalent about it, I think it's great. Funny how that works though, even with one's own images there is a lot of personal taste involved in what speaks to you. This could be seen as a bit left-heavy and bottom-heavy, but it doesn't bother me much. The cloud patterns in the sky really cap off the image well and it would be a shame to lose that softness, but maybe if you strengthened the contrast of the sky just a *tiny* bit, that element would help counteract the slight bottom-heaviness.

Yep, a keeper to me. I like the layering in your comp and the colors are beautiful. This might show a little better with a black background. It might bring the sky out even more. I do like the amount of detail in the foreground rocks here, though, so I don't know if it would present better that way or not.

Works for me too. I'm really enjoying the after sunset colors. I also really like how the water looks around all the rocks from the long exposure. I'd sure keep it  .

I like this one a lot Phil. As far as it being left heavy I think the brighter colors on the right help balance it out and it's not an issue to me. The light and the smokey water on the fg rocks make this one a keeper IMO. Nicely done.

To me, this is really outstanding. The water motion amongst those fascinating rocks is superb, with wonderful detail and color. Then add in the distant rocks and the golden sky and you have a superb image. I'd be very pleased to have something like this in my 'keeper' file. There is plenty of interest to draw the eye from the beautiful foreground, back to the distant rocks and horizon.
As an aside, scroll cropping the top portion of the sky to eliminate the blue does put greater emphasis on the foreground if you feel that there is some pull away from the foreground. Regardless, a fantastic image.

I don't see any reason why you would consider it taking out of "keeper" category  . Nice colors and composition. I like it a lot.

Keeper!
Although the left side weights more, it doesn't break, it's a good composition. I think the same as Jason, you could strengthen the contrast of the sky.

I love the dark, dramatic, brooding nature of this shot. Definitely a keeper, although I might consider a crop of the right side. :toast:

I think this works really well, Phil. The misty water and deep colors are very nice. I like that you kept everything very dark, with just a hint of detail in the FG.

A beautiful shot, Phil. I love the saturated 'film' look. I personally prefer darker tones and it's great to see you haven't tried to juice every last detail out of the shadows, which would ruin it's mood and power. A very nice comp and style. Definitely a keeper imho!

I think it's a keeper! Maybe just a hair contrasty in the foreground blacks but maybe not. Love the primordial soup look the long exposure has created.

Definite keeper Phil;
I like this a lot with the mist like water and the warm tone in the horizon.
