EOS-1D Mk4 EF500mm f/4L ISUSM. Iso 500 f/5.6 @ 1/250. Over cast backlighting.
Hard to believe that a Blue tit could look so intimidating!

it does look a little sinister! I normally prefer side-on images of birds but this does have an unusual feel about it, especially with the hint of back lighting.

Head-on shots don't always work that well with small birds, in this instance though, I think it works fine because both eyes are clearly visible. The pale grey backdrop is a little different to the norm and helps both bird and mossy perch stand out nicely.

The moss is a little dominant and the central composition isn't appealing to me . A portrait crop with the bird central may look better . The rim lighting is very nice along with the retention of detail in the shadows.

He does look intimidating - most unusual. I agree a portrait version might work better.

Don,t want to be unkind but this sort of set up shot does not suit a bird like a Blue Tit Very welll lexecuted shot but there are in fact few birds that one would see in the wild on a perch like this.
Cheers
