Two early arrivals for 2011 are these Great-horned Owlet "Fuzz Balls." Image captured yesterday under another overcast and rainy day at the local Nat'l Wildlife Refuge. I would have preferred a lower ISO setting but between the downpours, clouds and little heads "bobbing," I did the best I could.

Larger version available, Thanks for stopping

A really great comp Craig. I say you did very well under the conditions. I love the one owl's one eye peeking out. Both birds are nice and sharp and all the wood around them adds IMO. Nicely done.

I like the texture in the fluffy feathers and the bright, expectant eyes. This was quite a find for you and it must have been very exciting!

nice work with not much light, Craig. I like the comp, and the DOF has worked out very well for f/4.5, with super detail in both birds' faces.

What an adorable image! I love the composition and the fact that you managed to get both subjects acceptably sharp, very well done Craig :^)

My favorite thing about this one is the single eye of the second bird peeking out from behind the branch. Well done!

Nice view of the eyes and I like the diagonal lines of the wood.

Unique image, Craig. Those eyes are mesmerizing and love how you have the owlets framed in the wood.
