Dancing Snowy

Went to shoot terns at Bolsa Chica today. Trying for the Least Terns. Boy those little guys are fast. Then I noticed this Snowy Egret coming down the channel towards me and it was dancing around like a Reddish. I captured some great poses and I think I got the exposure OK. I like the way both feet are just about out of the water and the wing spread. I do like the action. And the dance worked, he caught a small fish.

Comments are appreciated.

Harry - PERFECT exposure, excellent detail in the large version, and great action.
I have never seen them dancing.. love the water drops.

Great action you captured here Harry. I like the pose very much - walking on water is cool. I'm not sure if I like the reflection though - it's not a really nice one with a recognizable shape and it sort of ruins the dark uniformity of the water. If this were mine I'd probably crop the reflection out and add a bit of exposure to just the bird. Hope that makes sense.

I like this as posted. I've seen this behavior with Snowy Egrets before but haven't been able to capture it - I'd be happy if this was mine.

Exposure and details look excellent to me Harry, like the POV and pose on this water dancin' miracle
You can see the bird focusing on the water below, as it tracks the fish underwater you mention..
Well done! :toast:

Very good. I'm not sure about the reflection, but it's a question of taste. Maybe more room to the right could have helped.

Cheers, Luca

Gorgeous. Love the hue of the water, the bird's posture, a tiny splash that adds texture.
