Misty Yellowhammer

In May 2010, I got up early to chase the sunrise and found this guy sitting on a fence loudly chirping away. He didn't care that I was there, either--he had a neighborhood to wake up. I could hear him well enough even though my windows were rolled up as I left.
Shot with Nikon D300 18-300mm zoom lens. Light and color contrast added. The original shots were too dark.

One of my favorite species! Around here, when I hear the first Meadowlark singing in March, I know spring is around the corner!

And, this is where I always see them too, on barbed wire fences. For composition, I'd probably move the bird over to the right in the frame. A centered composition usually isn't as effective, and if you crop it so the bird is over in the right half of the image, you'll have him "looking into" the rest of the composition on the left.

Shirley, I like very much the mood and the bird's pose with the turned head.

In my monitor I see a few artifacts around the barbed wire and the edge of the bird, probably generated during processing.

Thank you for sharing

This would be a meadowlark as Terry points out, different from a yellowhammer.

I didn't know for sure what kind of bird it was. I Googled images of a yellowhammer and it looked close enough.
