Shackleford Banks, Outer Banks of NC. These wild horses roam free on the island. This foal was still nursing & was with his mother in this photo. Larger photo for more detail.

Lovely grouping of the horses and having all three in focus is a nice accomplishment, Wick. I like the bg too: just enough blurring to stop it from being a distraction but enough sharpness remaining to be interesting. The horses stand out very well. Fine work.

Hi Wick,

Very nice colour and detail and you've done a good job of taking what easily could have been a distracting background and turning it into an asset to the image. My only small "nit" on this one is the amount of foreground and near dead-centre positioning (vertically) of the subjects in the frame - if this is a crop and there's more room all around I'd argue for losing some of the foreground and adding the same amount on the top edge of the frame (but this is purely a personal preference issue).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Brad

nice shot of wild horses - a subject which I love...

I agree with Brad on the placement here, and personally I would have added more FG seeing as there is what seems to be houses in the background

Here's a repost with more sky & less foreground. Morkel, those are houses in the background. That's the allure of the area - it's a wildlife refuge on the outer banks with the town of Beaufort just across the open water.
