Fern On Burn

While waiting for the right light to hit El Cap in Yosemite, I wandered into the woods looking for close up shots. I came across this fern covering a burned log.

Fuji S2 Pro Digital, Sigma 180 macro lense, on a Bogen tripod.

Very cool graphic quality, Mike - the inverse of the ferns, look like burn log ferns! Striking color contrast.

Mike welcome to NPN. I really like this one, I like the vertical lines of the ferns w/ the horizontal lines in the burned log - strong composition, nice color contrast as well. Great job!! :toast:

Well spotted and captured. I looked at a slight crop of the dark bottom right corner but it ruined the overall effect. Nice metallic feel to this.

Mike,

Good eye to spot this and get the perfect composition. The greens really contrast nicely with the burned out log. I wish you would have posted to the max size of 640pixel wide. I'm sure the detail is just wonderful!! :toast: :toast:
