Bride's Misty Cathedral
by Jean Day
Ellie and I had explored the valley a bit and ended up at Valley View, but it was so misty and still snowing there was nothing to see. We decided to go up to Tunnel View having discussed the possibility of how great it would be if the clouds parted and we could get shots of the valley in snow. Well, it was bitchen!
The clouds to the west began breaking up and though it still snowed on us and through the valley, we started getting some nice light. It was dark and misty and moody and we were stoked! Each of us knew we would have some great B&W's and after taking a ton of shots, were satisfied with this endeavor. I really liked this one, and with the snow and shadows, didn't have to do much with the conversion. I even decided I liked the stupid leaning tree being framed by the mist!

I think a bit of play on levels and channels can bring out some really amazing contrast and make the waterfall and those scary clouds stand out even more.
Fabulous!
mystical feeling of it. The B&W rendition is appropriate here.
As for more contrast, maybe I'll play with that a bit, but I thought I'd lose too much of the misty quality of it.
Welcome to CANP and NPN!
This is mystical image. I've spent a lot of time in Yosemite, and I don't recall seeing light like this. Nicely done.
