Musk Mallow

This is a Mallow Flower for sure and most likely Musk Mallow. Would be great if someone can ID it positively. (With help from Philip Hodgkins, this was identified as Musk Mallow).

ND200, 200mm F/4 Micronikkor, F/6.3, 1/100 Sec, ISO200 and Tripod in superbly overcast condition. Had to shoot a little top down for showing the details in the main flower and also make use of Coreopsis blooming at a lower level for the background. The reason for stating this is to justify the slightly out of focus stem at the base.

Thanks a lot for your comments on Daylily and do let me know what you think of this one.

Ram, if these flowers are about 2 inches in diameter, then you are probably right, although leaves and buds would certainly help make a positive ID. As for the image, it is "all good." No nits from me. Love the light and the soft color. Just a really good, simple image! :toast:

Can't help with the ID, but the flower is a real beauty. Perfect DOF for getting the entire flower in focus and keeping the nice BG soft. Expertly done as usual.

Beautiful flower Ram against a fine bg. Superb detail as well. Sorry but I can't help with the ID.

Ram: A bloom that is new to me. You've certainly provided a wonderful introduction. Brilliant DOF and BG control. Can't beat a 200 for that. I especially like the hint of the second flower. Most excellent. >=))>

Great beautiful flowers and with very pleasant color BG. The close crop does emphasize the blooms wonderfully, I could like a bit more surrounding space as well.

No justification needed. The bloom is splendid and your control of DOF and the placement against the BG is super.

Just gorgeous. Reminds me of little girls in pink dresses for some reason. The bg is just beautiful as always. :toast:

You've given the flower great presence, Ram - with a lovely multi-coloured backdrop for the petal textures. Beautiful !

Wonderfully composed Ram! Using the Coreopsis for the BG was worth trading a little sharpness on the stem, IMO!

Ram, I love the half soft and half sharp portrait of the flowers. The delicate subject against a vivid background gives an original look to the image. I love it.
Cheers.
