A panoply of leaves found near Porcupine Creek in the Chugach NF on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska one summer morning a few years ago. A transparency that I dug out of the archives and scanned last week. Your thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated.
4x5, 120mm, polarizer, Velvia. M1 scan and TK masks.

Large size image provided.

Thanks in advance for your comments, suggestions, critiques on this image. And thank you very much for the great comments on the last post.

Can't think of a more fitting title for this one Vance. Beautiful intimate portrait.

So, Vance, how long did it take you arrange this one? I think it looks great. The elements are nicely balanced and the color looks perfect. Nicely done!

That is really nice, Vance. Monochrome, essentially, but with lots of variation and texture and contract to create a great deal of interest. Larger images shows excellent DOF.

A great mix of textures and shapes and great Velvia greens! And the comp is excellent. Another marvelous intimate image, Vance. You do know you can self-publish, don't you?

Appreciate the feedback everyone. When I lived in Alaska, after getting through yet another dark winter, I always sought images that radiated green. Now I live in a place with lots of green for a good portion of the year which is really nice. In Alaska though, the green was so special because it seemed so very brief. Thanks again for all the great comments.

I love the "stamped" feel of the leaves here. The shapes and colors are fantastic against the dark background. My only suggestion would be a slight crop of the top. If you crop just below the highest point of the large leaf (top middle), you will avoid the repetition of that shape. The double points up there draw my eye up and away from the rest of the composition.

The depth of field, composition, and clarity are all second to none. The incredible details seem to get a little lost in the somewhat overpowering monochromatic color of the image. I'd be interested in seeing a b + w conversion too. An incredibly impressive shot Vance. :toast: :toast:

Vance, This is quite impressive! Great comp, amazing detail and I love the green with the dark shadows. To me there is some wonderful depth here too, almost 3D because of those shadows. Excellent work.

This is beautiful, Vance. The composition is excellent with one very minor nit - the grasses in the upper left hand corner seem to interrupt the flow of the composition a little but this is being very picky. I also like the contrast between the shadow and highlight areas here as it really brings this to life. The vibrant greens are also rich and luminous. Great work!!

This is great, Vance. You really pulled together a superb composition, and the variety and color you've captured here are outstanding. Personally the greens feel a tad too cool to me but that's quite minor.
