Greater Yellowlegs

Was at one of my favorite ponds in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and this Greater Yellowlegs had the pond all to himself and was enjoying his breakfast. He allowed me to get very close, probably 15-20 ft., and didn't seem to mind my presence. Took over a hundred shots (got to love digital) and when I viewed them at home saw he had a fish in his mouth. Very foggy day.

Canon 7D
100-400 at 250 mm
-0.33 EV
1/320 at F5.0
ISO 400
RAW

Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated.

Love his pose, the food, and the reflection. The ripple from the beak is quite nice too.

nice, Allen--the fish in the bill and ripples in the water are really nice and I like the reeds in the bg too. it seems a little dark to me, I might try to extend the dynamic range and/or add a bit of contrast using levels and curves.

Nice capture with the reflection. I agree that the mid-tones could be brightened a bit, perhaps sliding the levels mid-point to the left. It must have been an enjoyable experience! Nicely done.
