A 4am start yesterday morning managed to get me up to Derwentwater in the Lake District NP in good time for sunrise. I had been following the weather forecasts all week hoping they would hold out untill the weekend and they did. Taken from Friars Crag looking south.

D700, 16-35mm. 4 secs at f/14, iso 200.

All comments are welcome and thanks for looking.

Gary.

Awesome! Just a wonderful shot all around. The mist, the blues, and the reflection all really make this stand out.

Beautiful, Gary! I think the more centered comp works really well here, and I love the blue tones!

Lovely lovely. Looks like tungsten blues but at 4am in the lakes I have found myself confronted with just this sort of light and it really is delightfully soothing. Great overlapping recessive shapes and silhouettes.

Very nice, I like the tungsten cast and the near 50/50 comp works pretty well for this shot. The haze at the water line is a nice elementand I think the exposure you chose really creates a somber mood.. Well done.

I really like the image as a whole. Very psychedelic - kind of reminds me of an album cover. I think the blues could be toned down just a bit without losing the effect, but I like it the way it is presented as well.

Gary,

Don't stop with the title.... keep going.... nights in white satin.....

This is just gorgeous. So beautiful and quiet, pardon the cliche, you could hear a pin drop. No nits or suggestions from me.

Love the blues and your fantastic composition, with the 50/50 split which works perfectly. Outstanding image. I'd print this large.

Nice blues. Mist mixing with clouds envelops the whole scene for me. Lines of clouds with their reflecton create dynamic feel... I think the longer panorama crop would work well too.

A stunning image, Gary. Awesome blue toning/processing. The reflection and composition has classical beauty, and the touch of mist really creates a wonderfully romantic mood. Brilliant!

Gary again instantly recognizable to me, you have captured the scene for me perfectly and I can feel myself back there on friars crag soaking up the fell side vista across the lake.
