OK, an icon shot for sure but this is from about 25 yards south of the real classic camera position and a cast of thousands jostling for position. I rather liked this view for the FG trees (hey, I'm a Flora guy ). It was a great joy to escape the Texas heat and drought for a couple of weeks and this was certainly a nice scene from our first day. All comments welcome. >=))>

Beautiful catch Bill. I like the change of color in the lower trees and love the cloud color. Well done.

There is no where as photogenic as the Tetons. This is great. The light on the mountains, the fog over the lake, the river and the trees forming a leading line into the image. I really like this image. I was just there three weeks ago and loved it. This is an icon that I never get tired of photographing or seeing photographed.

Beautiful sky and color Bill. I like the foreground trees as well.

Did you ever make it out to New England this autumn?

Bill, This is very nice! A beautiful view in wonderful conditions. I think your comp works very well. The large version is especially nice to look at. :toast:

Lovely scene and great light on the mountains. Glad you were able to move away from the crowd. There's a similarly famous spot in Glacier NP where nothing grows in a 30 ft radius because of the photographers....makes you wonder what we've created. I find the fog (??) at the base of the mountains interesting because here on the North side of Yellowstone, I've noticed that things get very hazy after a day or more of clear warm weather and wonder what the cause is.

Nice rendition of the conical location. Like the mist and the atmospheric perspective here.

Bill it looks like you witnessed some fantastic conditions. That layer of mist at the base of the Tetons is fantastic as is the glow on the peaks and in the clouds.

Classic beauty. I like the understated saturation here. The muted colors work well with the misty atmosphere. The dark edge on the clouds seems a bit unusual. Processing artifact or real
