Shot this just to test my new Sigma 120-400mm...need-less-to-say, I was very impressed by the results...shot in RAW, straight from the camera. I cropped and touched up only a very little in LR3.

Canon EOS 60D
Lens: Sigma DG 120-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 APO OS HSM
Focal Length: 400mm
f11
Shutter 1/1000
ISO 400
HH
Cropped for composition.

Comments and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

I really like the less than perfect blooms, and captured this with great detail. It looks a little dark on this un-calibrated monitor.

Mark: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a fine first post here. I do especially like the subject and comp. I would recommend a curves adjustment on the shadows and midtones to bring up the brightness a bit. Really nice DOF management and isolation of the subject and I like the pollen particles on the leaf below the flower. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>

Wonderful detail and a great subject. The entire image could be a bit brighter. The details are nice, particularly the pollen on the fg leaf.

Hi Mark:
Welcome to Floral
You did well HH such a long lens with good sharpness. Agree with Bill about brightening the image some.

I think I agree with others that this might be a touch brighter, Mark, though maybe you wanted a slightly subdued mood ? Like the placement of the flower in the frame. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Looks like a nice, natural documentary view of the flower in its element. The detail in the flower, especially in the center, is flawless. Nice glow in the yellow.
