Back view of trout lily

Here is another trout lily shot. This is more of a back view but also includes some of the interesting leaves; I couldn't get a nice comp with the complete leaves.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/16 for 1/10 sec. ISO 200.
Tripod mounted. The lighting again was provided by the setting sun with the background in shade.

Carolyn - Another good photo of the Trout Lily. I prefer the orientation of the previous Lily which struck a good balance between Petals and the Inside elements of the Flower but I do like the inclusion of the Leaves here which provides more visual interest.

I'd have liked some separation between the leaf going up and the petal intruding on it.

Carolyn, this is crazy good! The back view works...esp with the arrangement of those spotted leaves. High contrast pops and seems like the source of light for the leaves. Well done!

Carolyn:
I ditto what Ram said. The leaves adds depth but would have prefer the petal was not overlapping the upper leaf.

Wonderful image Carolyn. I like the amazing colors, light and DOF. I'm not quite sure about the leaf in the BG. Nicely done.

Fine, original composition and great contrasty lighting with first rate yellows, Carolyn. Like this a lot

To me, the harsh light makes for a "punchy" yellow and takes away the delicate look of the flower. Nice to see it pictured with its leaves, as they are an interesting and photogenic part of the plant. Encouraging the tall leaf to lie lower would have helped the comp. Overall, though, this is a good shot. It would inspire me to get back out and shoot some more of 'em!
