We had a great time shooting the chicks and I had to go back for a second shoot. This nest was in the corner of two streets in a vacant lot. I got lucky this little one was playing outside the nest and turned around to pose for me. Shot out my window on a bean bag since these chicks were pretty young we didn't want to spook them. OMG - cute factor of 1000!!!! He looks like a stuffed animal, he is so plump and perfect - plus posing perfectly. Beautiful detail, great eyes, and intersting habitat.
I LOVE Cape Coral and have to get back in baby season next time. I couldn't believe the nests were right in the open, a block from the city buildings, often in a vacant lot with houses on every side. Worried me a little, but the owls seem to be doing ok - and the local nature people put up signs to beg people to stay at a distance and not tromp on the burrows by mistake.
Wonderful shot!

Very cool photo Cheryl, it looks so innocent! We can't seem to save any habitat for them here in Canada, just not enough room... The centered owl works well with the cute subject.

The cute factor is clear off the scale in this, Cheryl. The center comp is very effective. And the calmness of the bird speaks well for your efforts.

Too cute. I love the vegetation in the background. Looks like he posed in just the right place. Sharp and well done technically, as always.

Too cute for words. Cheryl this is a delightful image of an owl chick. Love the flowers behind the owl. It looks as if you picked the owl up and positioned him at just the correct spot in the scene. Love the straight-on stare and those sharp piercing eyes.
