Second Contact

Venus as it makes Second Contact as it full enters into the sun's disk, just about 30 minutes ago.

Pretty awesome figuring that that next time this happens, not a single person alive on the earth today will be alive to see it again!

Let me also thank you for sharing it with us all! 'Tis a sad thought that I never did or will see it in person :frown:. Didn't have time to figure out where to get glasses or filters to view it.

Nice capture. I'd consider getting rid of the dust spot to the top of the sun.

Cool! I watched this through a crude pinhole camera that I threw together last minute, perhaps not the best way to view it but it was fun! :toast:

Neat to see this if only in a picture. Interesting how it occurs in pairs at very predictable intervals.

not a single person alive on the earth today will be alive to see it again!

I'm reading that the next opportunity to see it will be December 2117. 2117-2012=105. Almost certainly some of the babies and toddlers and young children alive today will be around in 2117, thousands or maybe even millions. Whether any of them saw this transit and will see it "again" is debatable, but seeing it twice in one human life is now certainly within the realm of possibility.
