Got up this morning at 4:30 and as I looked out the window I thought I might have good conditions in the Jura mountains for a spectacular sunrise. And indeed it turned out to be a perfect morning. I arrived just in time and got about enough time to set up my camera. This rock is called "Ankenballen" and is located in the northwestern part of switzerland in the Jura mountains.

Techs: Nikon D700,AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm/2.8G IF VR ED @ 180mm Iso:200 1/25 & 1/100, f11, manually blended in photoshop

A delightful cloud formation and comp. Only possible nit here is the trees on edge of clouds are too dark from the burn of the sky.

Bill,

What a fantastic sky! And even though the comp approaches 50/50, I like the strong diagonal - actually makes for a pretty dynamic composition. You might even experiment with some cropping to make the diagonal go exactly corner to corner - not sure if that would work, but an idea. Don't know what you can do about the dark tree tops, but that doesn't bother me too much. Also, just enough detail in the trees that it all looks good relative to a much brighter sky. I like it!

What an interesting looking sky...and very cool. Interesting comp too which I like! The rock outcropping adds a nice touch. Very nice, Bill.

A great sunset sky for you! I like this very much. My only suggestion would be that the lower portion needs dimmed just a touch. At least on my monitor.

Fantastic sunset and love the orange/green combo. I agree with Lon on the crop and feel it would make the image more dynamic. :toast:

Bizarre and unique scene. As others have stated, the blend is noticeable at the tree line. Other than that it looks good though. The clouds are beautiful and I like that little island sticking up in the middle ; ) :wavey:

Thanks again for all your feedbacks. About the dark tree line that most of you stated is caused by the blend......I checked once again the original files and i know that there are different sort of trees with different green tones......it's just that trees at the tree line are darker than the others...this is natural. At first I also thought the trees are darker because of the blend.......but after checking the raw's and from what I saw Imust say this is the way it is. But thanks again for your critical eyes. I appreciate.
