Located on the Navajo Reservation is Coal Mine Canyon. The mine buildings have been removed, but the foundations remain. No hiking is allowed down in the canyon, but one can walk along the rim.

Super neat light on this one! Great 3 D effect, it pops right out! I really like this image a lot!

Doug, that is wonderful lighting on some very striking rock formations. I like the big arc that the valley makes through the frame and the hint of distant ridges to establish a better sense of place. As lovely as the rim view is, this picture makes me want to explore the bottom.

Very interesting scene, Doug! I like all the textures and striations in the rock formations. The lighting really highlights all the texture in these rocks. As Mark mentioned, I like the hint of distant ridges to give a feel of the setting for this canyon. So much variety of scenery in this huge country of ours!

Dramatic setting nicely emphasized by the strong shadows. Nice and sharp throughout.
