Nikon D300 and Zeiss 100 mm trying to get the dof that I liked...settled on this.

Ken: The light on this makes it one of the best fern shots I've seen here in a long time. My less than 1¢ nit is the small patch of brown sowing between the 3rd and 4th leaves from the bottom on the right side. I think I would make that go away and then print it as large as possible. Superbly done.>=))>

Gorgeous, especially large. Speaks volumes for the quality of Zeiss! You could stack and do as well with this, IMO.

Ken:
Stunning!
Best fern curl I have seen. The light is just on the right spot and the color of this developing fronds really stand out from the bg green leaves. :toast: Is the vignette added in pp?

Love the vignetting as it really focuses attention on the fiddlehead. Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, (Bill) I will have to clean up a few more spots. Some flagrant spots were cloned out. Gary, ...vignetting was added in pp. So too, the frond was touched up to appear highlighted and distinct...colors were enhanced along with shadows and brightness to add pop. Finally, I selected the frond in order to sharpen for web posting. I should have named it Octopus... Ken S

Excellent use of the vignette. Adds nice drama. And, the dof and pof works just great.

Ridiculously well done Ken. I was doing some reading earllier and had the resolution on my monitor cranked up to 150% and it still looked great. Love the vignette, details are excellent. Zeiss?......I gotta get me one of those. Still shooting with the D300? Hope to see you tomorrow at the salmon feed.
