Lotus # 5

Nikon D800E, 300 2.8, 25mm extension tube. ISO 1000, F 7.1 1/100. Image taken at 6:30 am in slight rain and heavy overcast. It is rewarding to photograph a perfect subject and background that requires very little/no processing. I did adjust the luminous of the green BG and removed the blue cast in LR4. (a blue cast in green foliage makes for a very unattractive green IMO). The Lotus in the original file is razor sharp and picks up the shine of the water pools in the lower petals as well as the water droplets.

That the most rose-ish looking lotus I have seen! I like the soft overcast lighting. Did you crop this at all? I think I would have liked a tiny bit more room around it but that is just personal preference. Very nice over all!

The image was cropped very slightly on both sides. The color is exactly what you see. The Lotus seem to turn red later in the season or this is a different sub variety as the only knowledge I have is that they are very photogenic. Personally if the BG were expanded it would detract from the extreme detail in the flower for print purposes.

Bunn:
Perhaps the best of the lotus series so far. The bg is fine and not distracting.

Bunn - The Lotus is in pristine condition with terrific coloration. In my home country India, Lotus is symbolic of Purity and this photo amply shows why.

Really like the sharp detail and soft contrasting natural greens of the BG Bunn, nice.
I especially appreciate the pink tones that simply glow in this excellent soft light :toast:
