Cascade Fountain

Here's another from my recent backpacking trip in the Cascades - my favorite from the trip. We camped near this waterfall our first night, and in the late afternoon I climbed down to explore it a bit, with no intentions of making a photograph. Then I saw this remarkable splash that was perfectly illuminated by the sun.. and immediately knew the photograph I wanted to make

See the larger version for a little more detail.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Saw this on your blog, very nice job controlling the highlights. I like how the splashes of water lead the eye through the photograph. :toast:

An exciting image for me, Floris! I admire the kind of weightlessness, the inclusion of the sky adds a lot to it in my opinion.

Love it! Great use of "harsh" light which we often avoid when doing these types of shots... you crazy rule breaker you! Awesome stuff as always

Love the illuminated spray. This reminds me of a shot I took in Mount Rainier, but this is way better.

I've already seen and commented on G+ on this and I love it, Floris. That splashes really come to life in this one. The blue/orange color contrast is backing up the impact.

Floris ..i know that there are a lot of comments for this image ..and may not tell anything new. but one thing i can see here is that..there are atleast half a dozen independent frames within this one frame. Well done and an excellent piece of work.

This is really nice, Floris. Compositionally, perfect placement of the falls and the splash. Technically, perfect handling of the sky and golden highlights. And the LIGHT! Oh, the light - so good.
